THE BAND

OUR STORY

Having formed in mid-2016, bassist Daragh O’Connor found himself in a bit of trouble in January 2017 with a headline slot booked in The Academy in March, but no band. Thrown together with not much time for auditioning anyone, the new quartet featuring Dan Wigglesworth on vocals, Steph Comiskey on guitar, and Shaun O’Brien on drums, began to quickly throw together a set of both covers and originals. After their debut show with this lineup, things quickly picked up the pace, with performances on the Main Stage at Dublin LGBT Pride, and the launching of their debut EP “Deadlines” in September 2017. Following two more highly successful gigs in The Academy 2 as well as Academy Mainstage,

The decision was taken to part ways with drummer Shaun O’Brien in January 2018. Paul Gleeson has since stepped up to the plate and continues to whack smack and slap the skins in a way no other drummer in Dublin can. With 2 Academy main stage performances already this year the band is gearing up for the summer, which promises the release of the debut single off their second EP that's due to be unveiled in September this year. Atticus have most recently released a live video of their headline slot at the Academy this April. The video is available via their Youtube channel and showcases never before heard originals from their upcoming EP.

Daragh O'Connor

Daragh is the bassist of Atticus and founding member of the band. He shares the duty of writing the instrumental elements of their songs with Steph. Daragh begrudgingly settled for playing bass for Atticus in 2016 and has since learned embrace his instrument by going beyond root notes in order to create a different sound. Most recently Daragh learned that there's more than just pentatonic scales.

Paul Gleeson

Paul hits shit, and has done superbly since joining the band in early 2018. His unique style of hitting said shit comes from his wide repertoire, drawing from influences like Joey Jordison and While She Sleeps to create hard hitting beats and blistering double bass runs.
